What is Papr?

Papr lets distributed teams skip meetings and instead stay engaged and connect asynchronously using video and audio messages, threaded group conversations, and 1:1 chats.

What can I use the Papr app for?

Papr is mainly used to stay in sync with your team but you can also join or start public or private communities on Papr.
Here are a few things you can do on Papr with your team:

1. Replace daily stand-ups or weekly update meetings by having your team create audio or video messages.
2. Create an onboarding group for new remote employees to welcome them to the team with videos messages and answer their questions.
3. Run an asynchronous video meeting without aligning schedules across time zones.

Is Papr like Slack?

We think it's better for three reasons:
1. Slack is great for real-time messaging but real-time messaging isn't great for all discussions. Papr lets teams focus their discussions on specific topics using threads. This eliminates clutter and stops teams from randomly seeing mixed messages on multiple topics in one channel.
2. Slack lets you create multiple workspaces and channels but teams end up jumping from workspace to workspace and channel to channel to stay up to date. Papr connects all groups (our version of workspace) and channels in a work feed experience so you can see all updates in one simple view.
3. Slack does text. We let teams communicate with voice and video messages bringing life to conversations and keeping them engaged.

What are asynchronous video meetings?

Asynchronous meetings let distributed teams meet on their own schedule. Instead of meeting live you can send video messages, your team can then respond with video later. Not only is it quicker to send a video or voice (vs. text) but it has also been proven that seeing and hearing colleagues improves communication and employee engagement.

Imagine Simon (he's actually in our team), who lives in Poland while the rest of our team lives in the US. Instead of jumping on zoom calls late at night (or asking us to wake up very early in the morning), he can set up an asynchronous meeting by starting a discussion in Papr to share his updates and ask his questions. We can then respond with video messages and voila. Simon gets to see us answer his questions and unblock him all while he gets a good night sleep.

What if I don't like to take videos?

You don't need to take videos to use Papr. If you are more comfortable with text or voice messages then you can solely use those to communicate with your team.

Our team wasn't too comfortable with posting videos at first. In fact we never posted videos on social media but we're comfortable getting on a ton of video calls with our team. We took what makes us comfortable and tried to emulate that in the video messaging experience. For example, videos are private by nature and only go to people that have access to your discussion. We also blur and hide videos 48 hours after others in your team see them but keep the text so you can still search it in the future.

What devices are currently supported by Papr?

Papr is only available on iOS devices now but planning to add support for desktop soon.

What should I do if I'm unable to sign in?

You can contact us in the form above and we'll be able to help you out. The most common issue we've seen happens during the email verification flow. You will get a verification email once you sign up. Check your spam in case the email ends up there. Click on the verification link and then go back to the app. If you aren't signed in automatically then try to close the app and restart it then sign in again.

Do I need to invite others to use Papr?

No, but Papr is much better if you invite your team and use it with them as your main communication tool.

If you want to try out Papr on your own, you can create notes in your personal space or join a public group. There aren't many public groups out there right now but you can join our founders group and we'd love to chat.

Where can I contact you?

Yes, contact us on this page or ping us on Papr (join the Papr Support group on Papr) and we'll help you out.

Do I need to pay to use Papr?

Not right now. We're still in the early phases with Papr. We'd love for you to try it out, tell us what you think and how much you'd be willing to pay to use it.

Right now we're optimizing for feedback to improve the experience. Eventually we'll need to figure out a pricing model and charge to continue to offer Papr to everyone.
We'll give all our users a heads up before that happens.
